Creative Writing
Jessica is a fiction, memoir writer, screenwriter, and a poet. Her creative writing has appeared in more than twenty literary journals and anthologies and has received recognition in national and genre competitions.
She is the author of Blood Gilt, forthcoming from Little Studio Films Publishing in July 2026.
Her poetry has appeared in War, Literature & the Arts, Split Lip Magazine, The Malpaís Review, and Red River Review, and her creative nonfiction has been published in New Madrid and Word Riot, among others. Her fiction has appeared in The Dark Fiction Spotlight, Mocha Memoirs Press, The Grotesquerie, and Stone Soup Magazine.
She was nominated by the University of New Mexico for the Jack Kent Cooke Graduate Arts Award in Creative Writing and received second-place fiction awards from The Dark Fiction Spotlight and the Space Coast Writers Guild.
Her work regularly explores power, systems, social conflict, violence, trauma, fear, identity, and resilience.

Bound to Burn is the sequel to the forthcoming epic crime-family thriller Blood Gilt. While the novel reveals the early violence, trauma, betrayals, and criminal legacy that shaped Alejandro Whitmore Santiago, Bound to Burn explores whether a man forged by brutality is capable of love without destroying the people closest to him.
