About the novel
At five, Alejandro Santiago was torn from his mother and siblings during El Salvador’s civil war. At twenty-one, he lives in Florida under the control of Jared Whitmore—his American father, a military veteran whose consulting firm conceals a transnational smuggling empire.
When the empire’s Salvadoran routes are threatened, Jared offers Alejandro power, money, and a path back to the family he has mourned for sixteen years.

Alejandro must persuade his adopted sister, who once protected him, to compromise her anti-narcotics officer husband and shield Jared’s operation. But Maria is more than leverage.
